Established with a vision to celebrate art of cinema and work of literature, the Silent River Film and Literary Society is a non-profit organization that offers special programming of thought provoking films and literary events year-round. Founded in 2013 by the Silent River Film Festival, the SRFLS aims to bring the best of the world cinema to its audiences and provide them the opportunities to have discussions with filmmakers, screenwriters, poets, authors, scholars and critics.
It’s our honor and privilege to introduce the very first film in this series – National Security, directed by acclaimed South Korean director Chung Ji-Yeong. This impressive slate marks the beginning of a new era in the history of the Silent River Film Festival. We welcome director Chung to this event and the audiences of SoCal in Irvine on August 11th to watch an unforgettable film that is a soar in the heart of modern day Korea, in presence of the director himself followed by a Q&A with him. At this occasion, director Chung will also receive the “River Spirit Award” recognizing his lifetime achievement and “River Rock Award” on behalf of veteran South Korean actor Ahn Sung-Ki, for his role in feature film “Unbowed” directed by Chung Ji-Yeong, screened at the 2012 Silent River Film Festival.
